MEGYN IN A QUIET MOMENT
She had been a successful Chicago attorney up to age 33, handling litigation for major corporations, when she decided to move to the east coast and audition for a job at a local TV station. Within a year she was signed by Fox News, where she has made a name for herself as a tough, no-nonsense interviewer.  Our cover profile is MEGYN KELLY, whose exchange with Donald Trump during a Presidential candidate debate made headlines, as did her nailing former VP Dick Cheney’s hide to the wall on Iraq.
MEGYN KELLY AND HER HUSBAND DOUG BRUNT
Our intimate, behind-the-scenes story is a fascinating glimpse into the life of this mother of three, who is married to novelist Doug Brunt. As liberal Bill Mahrer quips, “We think of her as the sane one over at Fox News.” She is a self-described independent but skillfully challenges newsmakers of all stripes when they resort to talking points. As host of TV’s top-rated “Kelly File,” she covers a broad range of topics, and her personal interests reflect her life as Renaissance Woman.  This cover story is sure to make the Spring 2016 issue of  a hot pick-up!

Our lead Newsfront story this time is “The Truth About Farming”, featuring a pro and con debate between an advocate for the efficiencies of industrial agriculture and a supporter of the family farmer. Both sides score good points and we leave it to the readers to reach their own conclusions about a topic that is especially relevant to those of us who  live in the Heartland.

LOBSTER REUBEN

When most people think of corned beef, they think of a St. Patrick's Day meal. But as our Lifestyle Editor Sally Knight proves, there are some delicious ideas that use this ingredient in creative ways. She has recipes for a Rachel Sandwich, Reuben Soup, Reuben Eggrolls, Rueben Pizza — or our favorite, a Lobster Reuben with apricot marmalade, caraway seed remoulade, fontina cheese and pickled onion. YUM!

We’ve always got tasty and tempting recipes for you to try — this time using cottage cheese (who would believe it?) and melon! Our Lifestyle Editor Sally Knight will tempt your palette!

Midwest-born Spencer Tracy was nominated for 9 Academy Awards, was revered by audiences and his actor colleagues, and was widely respected. But as we report in our revealing portrait of this legendary actor, he suffered from crippling depression and insecurities. Even his fabled affair with Katharine Hepburn was not what it appeared to be. This engrossing profile is sure to attract and hold reader interest!

People love to look at beautiful homes and this issue our designer, Eve Middleton, takes us to a gorgeous manse on Lake Michigan, which features some unique design features.

Each issue of Midwest Today contains stories on “Art & Artists.” This time we look at a man who has built incredible replicas of famous structures using 2-inch wooden matchsticks! He’s even opened up his own museum in Gladbrook, Iowa to house over 65 creations!

We take a tasty look at the BEST BREWS coming from various Heartland microbreweries...a survey done by our staff and friends who dedicated long hours to compiling this story. (Somebody had to do it!)

And since our issue will cover May, June and July 2014, we look at VACATIONS CLOSE TO HOME...affordable family fun that won’t depress your pocketbook.

Plus we have news, fashion, books, art, music, the outdoors, humor, and so much more...

Remember, besides mailing to subscribers across a multi-state area, Midwest Today places thousands of copies of each issue directly in the rooms of numerous upscale hotels/motels, dramatically boosting our readers-per-copy (due to the turnover of the rooms, especially during vacation travel season), and enabling you to reach an ideal demographic of affluent, well-educated TRAVELERS with disposable income. When you take an ad in our print magazine, it also appears FREE in our “exact replica” Digital Edition with a link to you plus we take your ad to mobile devices as Midwest Today can NOW BE READ ON SMART PHONES, GOOGLE READERS, APPLE iPADS...for a whole new audience.

And for over 16 years we've produced a slick weekly show, the “Midwest Today Radio Edition,” that's based on the contents of our issues. It airs on 52 stations across 10 states, reaching hundreds of thousands of listeners and stimulating interest in our magazine — and your ad. Click the link below to listen to a sample show!
